Chuck Wanninger grew up in Macomb, IL, graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in journalism, and spent 40 years working in community newspapers. He is now a freelance writer and editor living in Port Huron, MI. His jobs moved from reporter to editor to publisher. His life moved from Iowa to Illinois to Washington State to Indiana to Michigan – with a couple of stops in between.
In addition, he taught journalism at four different universities and served as a writing coach at more than a dozen newspapers.
He has served as board member and officer at more than 20 non-profit community organizations -- chambers, foundations, hospitals, social service agencies. He presently is on the boards at St. Clair County Community Foundation and the Blue Water Council on Independent Living.
As a longtime writer and editor, Wanninger handles writing assignments of all kinds. His copy is crisp and accurate and entertaining. On the management side, he has solid non-profit experience in fund-rasing, board leadership and organization marketing.
He is married to Debbie, who retired after 30 years as an elementary school teacher. He has two sons and a step-son, all of whom are succeeding wonderfully in professional jobs. And he has three grandsons -- Nick, Jackson and Matty.
